SHAREit Software Update September 2025

The Illume (SHAREit) software was successfully updated the evening of Tuesday September 16th, 2025 by the vendor Auto-Graphics including bug fixes and the addition of three of our enhancement requests!

Highlighted improvements/enhancements include:

• Global Alert System: Illume Support requested an enhancement to help us communicate with Staff directly in Illume (SHAREit)! Currently our announcements are only received by the ILL listservs and do not reach front-line Staff or those without listserv access.
  
  Illume Support can now send announcements of software updates or issues/bugs directly to Staff via their Staff Dashboard [correction to the listserv message stating the alerts would display under the top right-hand "Bell" icon as was originally proposed]. 
  
  We will be testing the alert system within the next 24 hours! Please let us know if you have any questions/concerns/feedback for Auto-Graphics about the new feature. Auto-Graphics is also hopefully expanding this feature to allow Illume Site Administrators (Library SuperUsers) to send announcements to just your local Staff/Library as well.

• Z39.50 Live Shelf Status Improvement: Adding or updating the Live Shelf Status availability checking feature was previously time-intensive and could involve Illume Support manually mapping hundreds or thousands of Locations (eg. all Shelf Locations) to automatically reject requests for Unavailable items like Checked Out books. 
  
  At our request, Auto-Graphics has updated this set-up with a new "Import Z-target Mapping" feature. Locations can now be imported directly from a spreadsheet you supply to Illume Support during Live Shelf Status Set-up set-up -- significantly streamlining configuration of LSS sites. Please let us know if your library is interested in adding or updating live availability checking in SHAREit.
   
• Desktop Delivery Improvement: Libraries have long requested the option to receive an email notification when a SHAREit library ships a Non-returnable (Copy) request via Desktop Delivery!
  
  Journal Article or Book Chapter documents, such as PDFs, can easily be delivered directly via SHAREit to all Illume libraries now including both SHAREit and ISO (eg. Relais) libraries.   Important Notes: All Relais libraries have been set-up to automatically receive attached Article requests shipped from SHAREit libraries via an email notice from <staff-enotice@illumebc.ca>. At the request of other SHAREit customers, Non-Returnable (Copy) requests have been streamlined to automatically go to Received and Complete status as soon as an attachment is downloaded by staff or the patron.

Highlighted bug fixes include the following:

• Login Link/Button Bug: Libraries that were using the "Use Library Name" option were unable to update the new "Login" default link text.
