[Software Customisation] As of July 17th 2025, SHAREit has updated the previously hard-coded "Hello Guest, Please Login" text to say just "Login" and libraries can now customize it for their local library!
Login Prompt
Administrators can now update the default login text prompt under UX Admin > Settings > Design > Header and select the "Login Button Text" option:
- The new default login prompt now just says "Login". The login text can be updated to a maximum of 10 characters. We have requested an increase in the character maximum/cap to 12 characters to accommodate text such as "Staff Login" or "Patron Login". But Auto-Graphics has replied that they're unable to extend the character length past 10 characters due to technical limitations for mobile users.
- For example most BC libraries currently use Guest patron requesting and only use the login link/button for Staff logins -- you can update the text to say "Staff", "Staff Site" or "Staff Only" if desired now.
- Or if your library has permanent patron accounts/requesting via NCIP -- you can leave the default saying "Login" or update to "Login Here" and both staff and patrons would continue to use the same login location.
Login Instructions
You can also continue to update the longer login text and Username/Password tool-tips that display on the Login pop-up under UX Admin > Settings > Login > Login Form Options:
- Update the "Login Instructional Text" (maximum 240 characters) to provide detailed instructions to Staff or Patrons.
For example, re-direct your Guest patrons to Guest ILL Tracking instead to see their ongoing requests with instructions such as "Staff Access Login Only (Patrons should click the top-right 123 icon instead for Guest ILL Tracking)".
Or provide requesting instructions to Guest patrons such as "No login required for patrons to submit requests for interlibrary loans. Please submit your request as a guest. Click CANCEL and start searching in the search box above. This login is for staff access only."
- If you are a NCIP library or otherwise have Permanent Patron accounts, you can update the "Username Prompt Label" to instead say "Library Barcode" and the "Password Prompt Label" to say "Library PIN" to assist patrons with logging in and authenticating against your ILS system.
Please let us know if you encounter any issues updating your Login options or would like assistance with your UX Admin settings or Branding!
